About us

“Mjesto gdje se učenje (za)voli.”

PLUS MINUS

The center for education was founded in 2021 in Zaprešić. In conversations with parents, friends, and fellow citizens, the idea naturally emerged to provide education in mathematics and related sciences for children and young people. It was important to us to offer professional guidance and various activities that would help popularize mathematics and the natural sciences.

The goal of the PLUS MINUS center is to offer parents, children, and young people a place where learning will be loved.

The center was founded and is led by Martina Ubrekić.

Martina Ubrekić

I hold a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education and, after years of working in schools, I decided to dedicate myself to the popularization of mathematics outside the formal school system. From the very beginning of my studies at the Faculty of Science, I was actively engaged in promoting mathematics. I lectured at the 5th Gymnasium within the Playmath project, led math-enigma workshops for school-aged children, and eventually completed my thesis on Flexagons, mathematical paper toys.

In my work, I have prepared children for competitions, and in 2019 we participated in the European Mathematical Conference EUROmath in Cyprus. EUROmath was a turning point in my view of the school system, as I realized that I wanted—and needed—to bring mathematics closer to children in ways that felt more natural and accessible, something I could not fully achieve within the traditional school framework.

I am a wife and mother of two children. With them, I began exploring activities focused on child development through play, which became the foundation of my kindergarten-age program—tested first-hand.

I am here for all those who show an interest in mathematics, who want to know and learn more, but also for those who may not currently see mathematics as their favorite subject. I believe everything can change—I’ve experienced it with my own students.

I look forward to working with you!
